Cigna HealthCare
Cigna Inc. is the United States’ third largest health insurer. Headquartered in Connecticut, Cigna provides health care services to national, as well as international customers around the globe. It offers Medicare plans, individual and family packages for both medical and dental coverage.
Cigna was created in 1982 after the merger of two companies: Connecticut General Life Insurance Company (CG) and the Insurance Company of North America (INA). Cigna is a for-profit insurance company. Unfortunately, Cigna has a reputation for delaying or denying payments to providers. In 2011, the CNA determined that Cigna denies roughly 39.6% of all claims (compared to competitors such as Aetna who denied about 5.9% of all claims in the same time frame). If the medical provider does not advocate for the patient, these expenses may be passed on to the patient. If the medical provider does advocate for the patient, Cigna will generally pay the claim and pay additional penalty interest but this can take up to a full year. We have a dedicated billing company that has had excellent results making sure Cigna gives you everything to which you are entitled.
Cigna’s international network allows consumers to carry their coverage beyond international borders, as the company has branches in over 25 countries and boasts more than 42,000 employees. There are 550,000 doctors and hospitals within the national network and 141,000 in the international plans. Like the other large healthcare companies in the United States, Cigna assets are large in number – totaling more than $59 billion.
Our staff specializes in communicating with insurance companies so that you don’t have to. If you are a Cigna subscriber, and curious about whether or not you are covered for nose surgery, our office will handle it for you. We keep up-to-date on revisions and alterations in the sometimes less that transparent Cigna septoplasty and sinus surgery policies. We can make sense of your plan, and make sure you receive the maximum amount of benefits.
